My Egyptian Discovery On My Chosen Retreat

To be lying wide awake at twenty to three
At present is not unusual to me

To be lying awake with a bum going numb
I can say is not an unusual one

Numb from leaning, back to the wall
But this time a change, I no longer feel small

August's healing and detox retreat was at Habiba Beach Lodge Nuweiba. We were a group of only 3 this time, myself and two guests, but I decided to go ahead with the retreat as I needed the break myself and looked on this trip as a working holiday with plenty of free time to relax.

I have to say it was one of the most special and wonderful retreats in many ways. First take a look at the photos below and I will share with you why it was so great.

When I first got into healthy pursuits and started learning about raw foods and juicing I tried out the raw food diet and then found myself juicing for about 9 weeks.... the weight loss was amazing !

I also look back on this time as one of the healthiest periods of my life ...

Habiba Beach Lodge is an ideal venue for our cleansing healing retreat as its close to nature, a simple life, with a warm supportive hospitality and community.

It's a very simple resort on the beach in Nuweiba with 10 ensuite air conditioned guest rooms with an organic farm established since 2007 and a date plantation. It was set up by Maged El Said, lover of Sinai and from a desire to give back to community through sharing his passions about nature and people. The food at Habiba is mostly organic from their farm or freshly caught from the Red Sea and the farm is part of Maged's sustainable organic farming community project with education and involvement of the local bedouin community. 

Accommodation at Habiba is simple but clean and the bathroom facilities are modern and clean. Simple wooden furniture shows all the creative ways that palm trees and their leaves can be used. Single twin/double and triple rooms are available. Habiba Beach Lodge has interesting visitors from Sinai journalists, local bedouin elders, doctors and researchers of the Sinai area, guests that come back every year, and friends of the owner and his family and volunteer woofers from the organic farm. So its great for learning about the local culture.

From 10 August 2013 we will be in Egypt for a one month juice fast, with focus on serious weight loss, deep tissue cleansing and healing the emotional and spiritual body. This is for people who want to deeply cleanse, rest, heal and renew themselves physically and spiritually and have some fun in a very chilled out spot, Sinai on the Red Sea.

We were a smaller group on this January healing retreat but we had a wonderful time. Between us we had a retired politician, an international HR talent spotter, a nurse, a wellbeing coach, an excellent massage therapist, the wonderful Yoga Jo and myself for emotional healing and transformation. I first fell in love with Egypt in December 2004 on my first trip where I stayed at Sharm el sheikh and did a Christmas Day trip to Cairo. From the outset I was fascinated by the culture, the architecture, the exotic fragrances and oriental cuisine, the natural beauty of the Red Sea region, the jaw dropping extremes of Cairo and not least, the warmth and the spirit of the Egyptian people. I was hooked so choosing Egypt as a venue for my healing retreats was a natural for my own enjoyment and to share the joy and mystique of this wonderful country with others.

Most lost weight and some got the much needed stress release and emotional healing. Jo's yoga classes were popular as ever culminating in some advanced pair work on the last morning. We have a few opportunities for therapists to work on a healing or detox retreat, joining as a member of the staff team in exchange for a discount place or free place.

The therapies we have regular need for are : Massage, EFT , EMO, Yoga and Meditation plus Self Help Workshop facilitation. Therapists joining our retreats who have other therapy skills may offer these as optional extras to guests.

Therapists working on our healing retreats still participate in the rest of the programme as much as they are able or desire to, given the working hours they have agreed to offer.

EMO is a simple natural process of transforming our emotional state. It works by paying attention to the physical sensations in the body that accompany our emotions and using our intention to soften and flow, releasing the internal pressure of our negative emotion and restoring the flow of our new positive emotion. It all boils down to the fact that 'it's all energy' and simply a question of 'is it flowing?' or 'is it blocked?' Simple? Yes, but the implications of this discovery are far reaching and profound.

EFT Emotional Freedom Technique was developed by Gary Craig. EFT is based on the discovery that our negative emotions arise from a disturbance in the body’s subtle energy system, associated with a thought or memory.

EFT is a simple way of releasing this energy disturbance associated with a distressing thought by tapping or holding specific energy release points on the body so we use and teach EFT on our healing retreats.
